{"id":1675,"date":"2020-07-25T13:51:12","date_gmt":"2020-07-25T12:51:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.ehs.com.ph\/?p=1675"},"modified":"2020-10-23T12:19:44","modified_gmt":"2020-10-23T12:19:44","slug":"angat-dam-2019-and-the-metro-manila-water-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ehs.com.ph\/?p=1675","title":{"rendered":"ANGAT DAM 2019 and the Metro Manila Water Crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>THE\nDAM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last June 22, 2019, Angat Dam Water Level\ndropped to its critical mark of 160M.&nbsp;\nThe last time Angat Dam reached its critical level of 157.57M was July\n2010.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Angat Dam water may last for 3 weeks if\nthere will be no sufficient rain, experts predicted.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dam supplies 90% of raw water and\npotable water for Metro Manila.&nbsp; It is\nalso a hydro-electric dam that produces electricity for Power Plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dam is part of the Angat-Ipo-La Mesa\nwater system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DEALING\nWITH WATER CRISIS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to help in the water crisis\nsituation, every resident and businesses in Metro Manila must take action in\nwater conservation measures at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Check leaks in pipes, hose and\nfaucets<\/li><li>Do not throw waste into the\ntoilet and flush.&nbsp; Use the trash bin.<\/li><li>Use clothes washer at full\nload.&nbsp; Use Front Load washers.&nbsp; Front Load washers usually uses 1\/3 of the\nwater Top Load washers require.<\/li><li>Reuse grey water.&nbsp; Grey water is the water draining from your\nhouse\u2019s sinks, bathtubs, and laundry machine, which can be used to water\nplants.&nbsp; You can harvest grey water in a\nsmall way with a bucket in your kitchen or shower, or install a grey water\nsystem, which reroutes water from your drains to your landscape.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses can do more by being more\nconscious on water use.&nbsp; Businesses can\nhelp in preventing a longer water crisis by implementing the use of recycled\nwater.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recycled Water or Waste Water Reuse is the\nprocess of converting wastewater into water that can be reused for other\npurposes. Reuse may include irrigation of gardens and agricultural fields or\nreplenishing surface water and groundwater (i.e., groundwater recharge). Reused\nwater may also be directed toward fulfilling certain needs in residences (e.g.\ntoilet flushing), businesses, and industry, and could even be treated to reach\ndrinking water standards.
